Occupational Health and Safety Training

Chain of Responsibility

On every farm different people are given different responsibilities in relation to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S). For any OH&S strategy to succeed these responsibilities need to be fulfilled.

The Chain of Responsibility is as follows:

  1. Farm owners and managers are to provide a workplace that is safe for staff and visitors. This responsibility extends to contractors and their employees.
  2. Employees have a responsibility to follow OH&S rules provided by the employer and to ensure the safety of other staff and visitors.
  3. Suppliers and manufacturers have a duty to provide goods and services that are safe. They also have a duty to provide information on the safe use and safe handling of the goods and services they provide.
